Keeping track of 3ds max file locations

3ds max references a lot of files in a lot of different places, and it can be a nightmare trying to remember where to change a certain setting, especially when working between different computers. Since 3ds max doesn’t currently have a user reliable workspace syncing feature like Adobe, this (continually updated) post is intended to help keep track of the most commonly referenced files and settings that make your copy of max feel like home. (NOTE: file locations vary by operating system, max version, and project folder. This post will provide bracketed OS, username, and software version placeholders, but was established on a system running Windows 8 and 3ds max design 2013 with default project location)
